Rafael Nieto Jiménez was born in Madrid in 1976. He holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in History of Cinema. He has published two books, Javier Bardem (2013) and Juan de Orduña: 50 years of Spanish cinema (1924-1974) (2014). The latter received the 2015 Muñoz Suay Award from the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences as the best work of historical research on Spanish cinema. He has produced eight short films and the feature documentary film Memorias históricas (2015), obtaining several national and international awards. The short film Carabanchel, un barrio de cine (2007), was nominated to a Goya, the Spanish Academy Award, to the best documentary shortfilm.
