BIOGRAPHIE

Born in São Paulo and holding a BA in Filmmaking from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), Fábio Baldo has directed the award-winner short-films Caos (2010), Da Origem (2011) and Geru (2014), selected by important national and international film festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Kiev-Molodist, Moscow, Montreal, Bilbao-Zinebi, Lincoln Center's NewFest, Guadalajara, Uruguay, Bogota, Viña del Mar, Brasilia, Tiradentes, Janela Internacional de Cinema do Recife, Semana dos Realizadores, São Paulo Int. SFF, Rio de Janeiro Int. SFF and Belo Horizonte Int. SFF. His first feature film “Time Was Endless” (2016), sponsored by the Petrobras Cultural, FSA and World Cinema Fund, had its premiere at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival, within the session Panorama, and was exhibited in Toulouse (France), Brasília (Brazil), Raindance (UK) and at the São Paulo International Film Festival (Brazil), besides having been awarded Best Picture and Best Actor at the QueerLisboa (Portugal), and for Best Screenplay, Best Film and Best Actor at the Vitória Film Festival (Brazil). His work has earned him a Candango trophy at the Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro, and mentions in major international media vehicles such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. He is currently developing his second feature-film project “Sweet Hell Throughout the Galaxy”, supported by the Ibermedia Fund and selected for the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum (San Sebastian International Film Festival) and for the Novas Histórias Laboratory of Sesc. The project has part of its funding secured by the development fund of SPCine and will be distributed by Vitrine Filmes, in Brazil. In 2015, the French Cinémathèque in Paris held a retrospective of his films.
