Reinaldo Pinto Almeida

BIOGRAPHIE

Born in Lisbon the director studied Philosophy in Lisbon and later at Paris IV having completed his studies in 2007 with a degree from the Universidade de Lisboa. He then moved to Mumbai, India where he stayed before moving to Berlin, Germany where he is currently residing. He works as a freelance filmmaker in various departments and studied at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. He co-founded the Almeida/Kind GbR Production for his international short-form comedy series Das Apartment. He is currently developing various feature projects, fiction and documentary. Amongst them is A Border Within for which he received a research grant by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin. His short film Sushila By the Sea was broadcast by Arte in France and Germany at the end of 2020. In 2017 Helle Nächte by Thomas Arslan, which he edited, premiered in the competition of the Berlinale. He has given workshops in film and improvised theatre for clients and institutions such as, Netflix Berlin, The Goethe Institute, GISMA Business School, CIEE Berlin, University of Leipzig, Asian Film Festival Berlin and Vision Kino. He holds a Licenciatura by the University of Lisbon, A BFA and MFA by the Film University Konrad Wolf. Reinaldo grew up speaking Portuguese, German and English. He is fluent in French, proficient in Spanish and has basic knowledge of Italian and Hindi.
