Born in 1983, grew up in Toggenburg (Switzerland). From 2004 to 2010, Joël Jent pursued a program of study in film, political science, philosophy and social/economic history at University of Zurich, which he completed with a Master of Arts degree. He then worked briefly as a journalist. Since 2003, Joël Jent has produced short- and feature films, including films under his own direction. He produced Samir’s Award winning films BAGHDAD IN MY SHADOW and 3D documentary IRAQI ODYSSEY as well as the 2017 and 2018 Academy Awards® shortlisted films BON VOYAGE and FACING MECCA (Student Academy Award winner 2017). In 2014 STANISLAVSKI AND FILM – his first book was published. Joël Jent lectures at Zurich Art University and is President of Swiss Fiction Movement as well as a member of the European- and the Swiss Film Academy. He works as filmmaker and screenwriter and is father to one son.
