BIOGRAPHIE

Sebastian Schmidl - Director & Writer Sebastian Schmidl was born in Vienna, Austria, studied directing and screenwriting at the Filmcollege Vienna and his medium-length graduation film „Darling“, which he directed, wrote and co-produced, was nominated for the most prestigious German-language newcomer award, First Steps Award in Berlin, has been presented and nominated at film festivals worldwide and won several awards in countries like the USA, Germany, Japan, Spain and more. The film projects with his participation as director, screenwriter and/or producer have also been presented, nominated and/or awarded at more than 100 film festivals all over the world, such as Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Palm Springs ShortFest. In 2020 the film „Day Release“, won the Austrian Film Award as best short film, for which Sebastian Schmidl also received several international screenplay awards. As a co-screenwriter, he also realized the feature length film „Crush my heart”, which was shown in cinemas in 2018 and has also been presented and awarded at international film festivals. He is currently working on his directing feature length film debut, for which he received the BKA Scholarship for film art and is in the process of completing the short film „Fireworks“, for which he worked as a director, writer and co-producer.
