Eleonora Veninova is a screenwriter and director, a lover of travels and new cultures, who has lived and worked on three continents in several film and media industries. She is the author of five feature film screenplays, as well as scripts for promotional videos and documentaries. She has won a Script Development Grant, awarded by the Macedonian Film Fund, two years in a row, in November 2012 for the script idea “Sabattier Effect” and in 2011 for the comedy “House of Three Flags.” Eleonora holds MA in screenwriting from California State University Northridge and a BA in journalism from University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Skopje. During her two year stay in Los Angeles, Eleonora worked as a script reader/story consultant in the Development departments of several production companies, including Bold Films, Sixth Sense Productions and New Wave Entertainment. Eleonora’s engagements in Africa started with her job as a Writer/Editor-in-Chief for Zeleman Production, an Ethiopian film production company based in Addis Ababa. She developed scripts and concepts for promotional videos and documentaries for the company’s clients. Her documentary short “Long Journey Home” about living in Ethiopia was screened at the ISFF Detmold 2012 in Germany. In addition to this, she is producing the Italian-Ethiopian documentary “Macchiato” that’s currently in post-production, where she also works as an editor. She recently completed her first short fiction film, “Status: In Trouble,” which screened at CINEDAYS, Festival for European Film (Skopje, Macedonia), SEE FEST in Los Angeles and KULTRA, Festival for Film and Theatre (Stip, Macedonia). She is currently working on the pre-production for her next short film, “Hair,” financially supported by the Macedonian Film Fund. Previously, Eleonora worked as a Reporter/Producer at BBC World Service. In 2005 she won the “Make a Difference” award for best one minute video clip, which she directed and edited, awarded by UNICEF and PROMAX&BDA .
