BIOGRAPHIE

Thomas Stellmach, (*1965, in Straubing, Germany) is a director, producer and author of short animation films. He lives and works in Kassel. Many of his short films have received national and international prizes. For the stop-motion film QUEST in 1997 he received an Oscar® (Academy Award in the category best animated short film 1996, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, USA.) Thomas Stellmach studied animation under Paul Driessen, director of animation films and professor, at the Kassel Academy of Arts. After completing his artistic studies in 1999 he founded, together with two partners, the animation studio “Lichthof Film & Animation” in Kassel and produced animation films for TV and advertising until 2008. Since 2009, Thomas has been working freelance and concentrating on his own artistic projects. In addition to this he holds animation film workshops and is the presenter of his Trickfilm-Show. His productions include: stop-motion, 2D and 3D computer animation, pixilation, experimental ink animation in stereoscopic.
