BIOGRAPHIE

Ian's debut as writer-director was the Arabic-language dramatic thriller 'From the Sky.' Called "brilliant...an amazing and pioneering short film" by Cinephilia & Beyond, 'From the Sky' won the International Humanitarian Award grand prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Best Short Film grand prize at the 2019 Damah Film Festival in Tokyo—where it was selected by a panel of Oscar- and award-winning producers including Gerald R. Molen (Schindler's List, Jurassic Park), Gray Frederickson (The Godfather: Part II, Apocalypse Now), and Howard Kazanjian (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi). The film aired on PBS and was featured in MovieMaker magazine. Ian's second film—the dystopian fantasy 'The Devil Needs a Fix'—had its World Premiere at the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival. Called "deliciously intriguing...a sophisticated dark comedy with an edge" by Thomas Ethan Harris (American Cinematheque), 'The Devil Needs a Fix' won several awards, played festivals including HollyShorts, and was named one of the best fantasy short films of 2018 by Film Shortage. In 2020, Ian wrote, directed, produced, edited, and played the lead role in the first season of the satirical web series 'White Action News' after his third film 'Pinwheel Horizon' was delayed by the pandemic.
