BIOGRAPHIE

Michael is an award-winning producer, graduated Media Economist, trained journalist and Technologist and director for new media projects. In 1999 he worked at KirchGroup´s International Co-Production Dept., later on US Commercials for e.g. Warner´s out of Toronto, then at broadcaster ZDF as well as for the EU at the Free State of Saxony in Brussels. At Kinowelt (now StudioCanal Germany) he then worked long-term on Arthouse and Hollywood films and received international awards for his interactive work. For Studiocanal he supervised the international Terminator 2-Skynet-Edition Blu-ray creation in Los Angeles that included the world´s first advanced interactive games and received a IDMA Excellence Award for Advanced Interactivity. As researcher and crossmedia concepter at Germany's Babelsberg film university he created new media formats and collaborated with the British Film Institute, BAFTA, E.B.U., French Ecoprod, the Producers Guild of America and more as Co-Founder of the Green Film Initiative to support sustainable film production. He lead a project on Interactive Television at MIZ Media Innovation Center Babelsberg. Michael concepted, directed and contributed to a variety of film, multi-platform and interactive projects, e.g. a webdoc for Arte/SRF, an iPad pre-school game based on a TV-series invited to Berlin Film Festival in 2017, consulted on Ubisoft’s no. 1 hit game ANNO 2070 and joined the team of the award-winning project Everyday Rebellion as App-Concepter. Michael is founder and producer / director at Actrio Studio, an award-winning content production studio that focuses on storytelling and innovation incl. fiction films, documentaries, shortfilms, AR and VR Experiences, 360° films and games, that have been invited to A-Festivals and sold to HBO and Netflix. His multi-awarded transmedia project "Call her Lotte!" premiered in Los Angeles and was invited by the Festival de Cannes into the "Future of Cinema NEXT" section. He was German coproducer of the Submarine Channel Soccumentary Web-Doc 'Who are the Champions?". He is writer-director for a wide variety of short fiction and documentary projects also in 360° and interactive VR that were invited to several international VR film festivals from Beijing to Cannes XR 2019. As alumni of EAVE, Eurodoc, the Multi Platform Business School and The Pixel Lab he focuses on innovation in storytelling. His tutors include Lance Weiler, Michel Reilhac, Peter de Maegd, Liz Rosenthal, Matt Costello, Nuno Bernardo, Mark Atkin, Timo Vuorensola among others. Michael also contributed to a book sprint of DIY Days Ghent by Lance Weiler writing about transmedia Finance. Michael is Berlin film festival Talent Campus expert, was member of different film festival juries, was tutor at Cannes XR Challenge 2019, won several Hackathons incl. the ProSiebenSat1 Hack24 2018, continues to be invited to lecture at film schools and conferences like Gamescom, Berlinale Coproduction Market, AWE, mipTV, GDC San Francisco and Festival de Cannes NEXT, is published author and actively involved in sustainability research and practice in the media industry.
