France Actor, director, screenwriter Lawrence Valin (born 1989) is an actor, screenwriter and director. Originally from Neuilly-sur-Seine, he grew up in Paris. In 2017, he graduated from La Fémis after completing the ‘La Résidence’ programme. His films, which highlight the vibrant Tamil community in Paris, are particularly popular at the Clermont-Ferrand festival. His first short film, Little Jaffna, won the CANAL+ prize in 2017. His second feature, The Loyal Man, won him the Best Actor award and was also shortlisted for the César for Short Films in 2021. In 2024, his first feature film, also entitled Little Jaffna, was selected for Critics' Week at the 81ᵉ Venice Film Festival as well as the Toronto International Film Festival. Alongside his career as a filmmaker, Lawrence Valin pursued an acting career, appearing in numerous short films.
