BIOGRAPHIE

Rommel Villa is a Bolivian filmmaker and @televisionacad laureate. He holds an MFA in production from usc. Recipient of directing grants from Lionsgate, Televisa, USC and the Sloan Foundation, Rommel's work ranges from magical, realistic LGBTQ+ stories to historical/controversial films like "Sweet Potatoes", which won him a student Oscar. This attracted the attention of Grant Rivers Productions, who hired Rommel to direct their TV pilot "Harold and Helen". Rommel is currently developing his first feature film "The Mechanical Box", a psychological thriller about obsession, guilt and trauma. Rommel is also professor of editing at USC's School of Cinema. In 2022, he won an Emmy for editing the documentary "Lives Not Grades".
