Omar Al Dakheel

BIOGRAPHIE

Born and raised in Kuwait, Omar Al Dakheel moved to the US at 17 after receiving a scholarship to the University of Miami to study Broadcast Journalism, followed by an MFA in TV and Film production at University of Southern California. Omar directed "Jihad in Hollywood", featuring Werner Herzog, which is now on Al Jazeera. He also directed "al imam", which is now on PBS. His short fiction film "Ablution" has screened at over 70 film festivals including Outfest where he was later selected as a notable writer for the feature screenwriting lab in partnership with Netflix. He was also selected for the 2021 Netflix Nonfiction Directing & Producing Fellowship. Omar is currently in post production for his documentary "Everybody's Watching" in collaboration with Hulu & Field of Vision. In Addition, Omar is producing a 3-part Docu-Series for Netflix called "American Manhunt" to be air next spring. Based in LA, Omar aims to tell diverse stories with universal themes that can bridge the gap between east and west.
