Ryan Craver is a Southern, gay, award-winning filmmaker and a Columbia film MFA graduate, in that order. His first short, Truck Slut, received a special mention at the Palm Springs Intl Shortfest in 2019 for 'Best Emerging Student Filmmaker.' The short also found him a home at the New Orleans Film Festival, who recently invited him to speak on a panel titled "Southern Stories, Southern Aesthetics." While at Columbia, Ryan's narrative project Tadpole received support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and won 'Faculty Selects' in the Columbia University Screenwriting Competition. In March, Tadpole also won Tribeca Film Institute's Sloan Filmmaker Fund for further research and development. His thesis film Sound to Sea (in post-production) received a Sloan Production Grant and support from the David Ross Fetzer Foundation for Emerging Artists. Both projects consider the intersection of queer ecology and teenage hormones.
