He has worked for television stations and film outfits in Manila as a screen writer for the past 16 years. In 2006, he wrote his very first screenplay, the award-winning- film, “Kubrador” by Jeffrey Jeturian. The first & only Filipino film to tackle the gambling menace of jueteng and how corruption creeps through the decaying Filipino culture; In 2008, he made his first creative documentary entitled, “Marlon” about a blind boy who wants to go to school despite his mother’s order and the national suspension of classes because of an impending coup d’ etat attempt against the Arroyo Government. It won best documentary in the Cinemanila International Film Festival; In 2009, he made his debut film, “Bakal Boys” (Children Metal Divers). It’s about the dangerous occupation of slum children engaging in diving for scrap metals in the ship yard-coastal-community of Baseco Compound, Manila. It went to several European and North American Film Festival and won accolades; In 2010, he attended the Busan Film Festival’s Asian Project market (APM) and pitch his selected film project, “Dog Show” among film programmers, agents and funders from all over the world; In 2011, he finished filming a documentary feature called “Magdarame- Sinners & Saints”. It’s about religious devotees who submit themselves to flagellation, crucifixion and other pagan practices in rural areas in the Philippines, but are equally engaged in prostitution, gangsterism and other syndicated activities; In 2012 he received a full scholarship from the Torino Script & Pitch Lab that will hold in-depth & extensive film workshops &and pitching sessions at various locations (Sweden, France & Italy), from March to November 2012; In the same year, he was invited in the Cannes Film Festival’s L’Atelier Meetings where pitch his film project, “The Dog Show” in a select group of European producers, distributors and agents; In 2013 he finished his 4-yearold film project, “Dog Show” with funding support from Germany & a Phil Production Company. He still awaits funding for post-production. Also, in the same year, his film project, “Bendor (The Vendor) was included in the roaster of selected films for the Cinema One Original 2013 offering. it tackles the impunity issue on illegal vending activities of abortive pills around the perimeters of Catholic churches in Manila; His screenplay, “PORNO” wins bet screenplay in the Young Critics Circle of The Philippines. In 2015, his latest screenplay, “Children’s Show” wins the GRAND JURY PRIZE FOR ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY in the Fantastic Film Festival of the Film Society of Little Rock in Arkansas, USA: . It’s about the illegal and brutal fight club among children in Tondo, Manila. He writes for TV specials, and gives lectures on screen writing & directing to various colleges & cineaste groups all around the Philippines.
