Yash Sawant

BIOGRAPHIE

Born in Goa-India in 1997, Yash Sawant has a background in painting and his works have been publicly exhibited in art galleries in Goa. In 2016, he first started off as a Cinematographer & Editor on a Konkani feature film titled ‘Welcome Millions’. In 2018, ‘A Cold Summer Night’ was his debut short film as a director, which had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival and later went on to screen at the Busan, Encounters, Dokufest, Bogoshorts etc. and also won a Special Mention award at the Kyiv Molodist film festival 2019. 'Mirage' is his second directorial short film. He is interested in exploring themes of spirituality, Indian mythology, family and death through the lens of magic realism and by bending core narrative elements into abstractions of memory, dreams and the other worldly. He is currently developing his first feature film titled 'Dawn of Threnody'.
