BIOGRAPHIE

TIAGO PIMENTEL is a Lisbon based filmmaker. Despite his academic training in Business Administration and a professional career in IT Consulting, Pimentel has always nurtured his eternal passion for cinema. Even at a very young age (Pimentel was just 8 when his father bought a camcorder, which would soon become his favorite “toy”). At the age of 16, the possibility of writing about films as a movie critic in PREMIERE magazine and in the newspaper 'O INDEPENDENTE', with several collaborations with 'DIÁRIO DE NOTÍCIAS', allowed him an intellectual escape where he could exteriorize his endless thoughts about cinema, films and filmmaking. Motivated to be a part of the creative process, Pimentel invested in professional film equipment and in his own education in filmmaking, from various workshops to specific courses. In 2018, he created his own brand of audiovisual content – Cinematic – which he uses as a professional vehicle for creating documentary and advertising films. Pimentel has already made several short films, some of them already duly recognized by the industry and international film festivals. He finished in 2023 a TV sci-fi drama series he directed, produced by Costa do Castelo and SIC, with the financial support of the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual – the Portuguese Institute of film. He also directed in 2023 a new short film of great ambition entitled "Once Upon a Time in the Apocalypse"
