BIOGRAPHIE

Jeff Silva is an artist, filmmaker, and anthropologist whose work bridges creative practice and academic research. With a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from EHESS, he is a researcher at CNRS/La Fabrique des Écritures Ethnographiques and the A*Midex project Alternative Narrative Forms in Audiovisual Anthropology in Marseille. Silva’s interdisciplinary work combines ethnography with film and sound to explore the human and ecological impacts of conflict, climate change, and industrialization. His films—including Balkan Rhapsodies (2008), Ivan & Ivana (2011), Linefork (2016), and The Order of Things (2022)—have screened internationally at venues like MoMA, Visions du Réel, and the Viennale. Silva’s current work expands into sonic ethnography and collaborative projects with artists and researchers, offering new ways to sense and understand the shifting relationships between people and their environments.
