BIOGRAPHIE

Born in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China in 1990, he studied Chemical Engineering and Technology in Southeast University until 2014. He then switched to cinema and received a postgraduate degree with distinction in Film Studies from the University of Edinburgh in 2018. He is now a second year PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, and the title of his thesis is “Contemporary Poetic Cinema through the lens of Chinese Aesthetic Theory”, which is supervised by Dr David Sorfa and co-supervised by Dr Xuelei Huang. His academic research attempts to apply traditional Chinese lyric theories and aesthetic concepts to analyzing contemporary poetic cinema.
