BIOGRAPHIE

Born in Osaka, Japan in 1979, Miyabe studied directing at the Nihon University College of Art’s Department of Cinema. After his graduation in 2002, he was involved in production projects as a director and made fashion-related videos for VOGUE, ELLE, and madame FIGARO to name a few. Miyabe won a Gold Pencil at the One Show Award 2015 with a documentary on the Japanese watch brand Citizen. Following his debut as director in Going (2016), Payment becomes his second short film direction. Influenced by a documentary filmmaking style, Miyabe values facing subjects through the camera lens himself and expressing a theme based on his view of the events, which is to show that there might be something behind what’s happening.
