BIOGRAPHIE

Je suis née à Porto, au Portugal. Depuis vingt ans je vis principalement à Paris. Le français est pour moi, depuis toute petite, comme une langue-mère. J'ai commencé à travailler comme comédienne quand j'avais 19 ans, auprès de Manoel de Oliveira. Cette collaboration a duré près de 12 ans, pendant lesquels j'ai tourné 7 films. Après avoir tourné avec Eugène Green « La Religieuse Portugaise », j'ai vécu à Rome 4 ans, pendant lesquels j’ai décidé de me consacrer entièrement à l’écriture. Après un premier roman paru chez Gallimard, « Vita, La Vie Légère », je viens de publier mon deuxième roman chez Verdier, « Piero Solitude ». J’ai obtenu l’an dernier une bourse du Centre National du Livre pour l’écriture d’un troisième roman, en cours d’achèvement. J’y retravaille un récit médiéval, en adoptant le point de vue, généralement négligé, du personnage féminin. « Piero Solitude » est mon premier court-métrage. Je l’ai tourné entièrement à Rome, extérieurs et intérieurs. Il est inspiré de mon deuxième roman, en particulier de sa partie romaine, car le roman a aussi toute une partie liée de très près à la Toscane et à Piero della Francesca. Pour ce premier film, j’ai écrit une musique, très simple, au piano. La musique fait partie de ma vie depuis toujours. J’ai étudié le violoncelle pendant de longues années, mais aussi le piano, et plus récemment la guitare. Je passe autant de temps à faire de la musique qu’à regarder des films, à lire ou à écrire. Par ailleurs, j’ai terminé l’écriture du scénario d’un premier long-métrage, très différent de ce court-métrage. Il est conçu pour quatre acteurs, et vise quelque chose entre le théâtre et le cinéma, entre le réel et le fantastique. *** I was born in Porto, Portugal. For twenty years I have mainly lived in Paris. French has been for me, from a very young age, like a mother tongue. I started working as an actress when I was 19, with Manoel de Oliveira. This collaboration lasted almost 12 years, during which I made 7 films with Oliveira. After filming with Eugène Green "La Religieuse Portugaise", I went to live in Rome for 4 years, deciding to devote myself entirely to writing. After a first novel, "Vita, La Vie Légère", published by Gallimard, I have published this year my second novel,  « Piero Solitude », by Verdier. I received a grant from the National Book Center for a third novel, which is nearing completion. In this third book I rework a medieval story, adopting the point of view of the generally neglected female character. "Piero Solitude" is my first short film. I shot it entirely in Rome. It is inspired by my second novel, in particular from its Roman part, because the novel is also closely linked to Tuscany and Piero della Francesca. For this first film, I wrote a very simple music on the piano. Music has always been part of my life. I have studied the cello for many years, but also the piano, and more recently the guitar. I spend as much time making music as watching movies, reading or writing. In addition, I finished writing the script for a first feature film, very different from this short film. It is writen for four actors, and aims for something between theater and cinema, between the real and the fantastic.
