Inspired by the likes of Hannah Montana, Japanese animation and fantasy novels, Chew Yun Yan has been writing lyrics, poetry and stories ever since she was 9 and is currently pursuing screenwriting aggressively. She would love to specialize in comedy, horror and magic. This is a result of her being a movie buff and her unhealthy obsessions with folklore, world mythologies and urban legends. She also frequently dabbles in directing, editing and production design. Her 6-month internship at HBO Asia as a Programming Production intern also prepared her on producing over 20 videos and social media content. Her works have been broadcasted on HBO Asia channels, HBO GO and their Youtube channel. Having previously studied Visual Communication in Nanyang Polytechnic, she utilized her background in graphic design to continue into Film in Lasalle College of the Arts. Since then, she has written for the course’s yearly productions for 2 consecutive years (both stories of hyper/magical realism). She has also spearheaded a music video with a local band and directed a Thesis documentary with her lovely team. Teamwork makes the dream work.
