José Prats is an award-winning Spanish director based in London. He studied Fine Arts and started a career as an illustrator in Spanish, Mexican and Finnish animation studios. Between 2016-2021 he worked at the British Studio Aardman Animations, where he created the colour script of the Oscar nominated Robin Robin and the Netflix production Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. In 2020 he directed Umbrellas, a 2D animation short film selected for Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, and nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the Spanish Academy GOYA Awards. In 2022 he was granted a La Caixa Foundation Fellowship to study Directing Animation at the National Film and Television School in the UK. His graduation film Adiós is a stop-motion drama set in rural Spain and inspired by the relationship with his father. José is currently developing Barro, a romantic and surreal drama in stop-motion, and Gas, a black comedy/drama in live-action.
