Bruno Manguen Sapiña

BIOGRAPHIE

Back on 2010, and purely driven by intuition, Manguen-Sapiña started directing short films in (birthplace) Mexico City. After trying, unsuccessfully, to get into film school, he studied photography, English literature, and enrolled into every film making workshop available to him. To refine his work with actors he attended endless hours of workshops with Mexican Hollywood Director Luis Mandoki. He also worked as First A.D in over 90 TV commercials and continued writing and directing his short films. The sum of these efforts earned him a spot in the film making masters program in the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany. There he was awarded with the DAAD PROMOS Scholarship to spend a semester in Emerson Collage, Boston, ranked as one of the top ten film schools in the U.S. He graduated with honors in October 2019. He has directed 8 short films, 3 TV commercials, and a handful of experimental pieces, film essays and music videos. Manguen-Sapiña is currently developing his first feature, a hyper-expressionistic tragedy that plays in the mad streets of Mexico City.
