BIOGRAPHIE

MICHELLE ALEXANDER was born in Lima, Peru, in 1956. She studied Communications at the University of Lima. She was a finalist in the documentary contest DOCTV IB II Latin America in 2009 and that same year, she participated in the Screenwriting Workshop of the Muestra Internacional de Documental (International Documentary Exhibition) in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2012, she took the production workshop led by the Latin American Training Center in Los Angeles, United States. She began her professional career as an Assistant Director and Co-Director of television soap operas and series. She directed and produced documentaries about renowned artists and TV news programs. After all these experiences, she decided to create her own production company to be more independent and be able to choose the stories she wanted to tell. Therefore, in 2006, she founded DEL BARRIO PRODUCCIONES, with which she has produced more than 35 soap operas and miniseries for national television. Today, Michelle Alexander is considered one of the most recognized television show runners in Peru. One of her productions: Mi Esperanza (My Hope), was the most watched TV show of 2018 in the country. In film, she has worked as an Assistant Director in two movies by Roger Corman that were shot in the Peruvian jungle. Currently, and together with DEL BARRIO PRODUCCIONES, she is developing the feature film project ZULEN AND I, which has already won some recognition at this first stage of development. It has won the Ibermedia Development Fund and has been selected to participate in the prestigious Script Revision Lab "Cine Qua Non Lab" in Mexico. This will be Michelle Alexander's first film.
