BIOGRAPHIE

Brothers Miguel and José Luis Jiménez started a career in arts since a young age. Lured by an innocent affection towards action figures, comic books and animated films, they became involved with multidisciplinary crafts like building universes, painting characters, writing screenplays and playing the tunes of their minds' creations. After finishing their design studies and some years of professional agency work, they got their first break with the video clip “No Looks, No Charm, Just Big Mighty Bucks”, an independent, shocking and bizarre animation about the glorification of narcoculture in the Colombian media. Upon going nation wide and honing various award nominations and wins, clients and companies started to approach them for their genuine blend of storytelling, graphic style and audiovisual pacing. With a larger roster of productions under their belt, mostly music videos for local and international clients, they teamed up with childhood friend, Andrés Cruz Barrera, and set their sights on a different kind of project inspired by true events; the graphic novel “The Eleven”, a fictionalized retelling of the Palace of Justice Siege. They achieved critical acclaim and global exposure with this content and quickly set a signature on the creation of Colombian intellectual property: one where entertainment values merge with social awareness in a neat and tight package. After applying their skills to the illustrated adaptation of renowned literary jewel, "The Vortex" by José Eustasio Rivera, Miguel and José begin to steer towards the production of live-action content but keeping the 'no holds barred' creation approach of animators. Their current project is "One of these nights", a harsh and crude love story that happens overnight between a couple of astray kids in the streets of Bogotá, has the same formula that has built them an audience: the stylized treatment of a sensitive subject that has had the country on the map for as long as they can remember, the perils of every day life in a place known largely for its history of violent conflict. Honored of having nurtured a friendship and partnership with producers Carlos Smith and Sebastián Patiño from HIERROanimación by means of their first short, the retelling of the armed conflict through the animated film "The Nabbing", the brothers´venture into the moving pictures will definitely not be their last artistic endeavor.
