Baff's work as a filmmaker and visual artist encompasses experimental film, artist moving image, commercials/brand films, virtual reality and feature film. Having been mentored by the acclaimed artist/filmmaker John Akomfrah and the Oscar-winning Asif Kapadia, Baff was tipped as a Star of Tomorrow by Screen International in 2018. Raised in London and Accra, Baff found filmmaking as a framework to make sense of the world. A self taught filmmaker, his work is always interested in the fluidity of visual grammar and characters who wrestle with notions of identity and (self)perceptions. He began by spending three years honing his visual, cinematic and narrative instincts making the documentary FOOTBALL FABLES (2010), described as “A fascinating and provocative film” by Screen Daily and “An insightful… sobering journey through a multi-billion dollar industry” by Empire. It was awarded at international film festivals and lauded by critics. It also exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London. Baff transitioned into directing scripted drama on Channel 4 UK's acclaimed series of single films from new talent COMING UP (alumni include Andrea Arnold, Yann Demange, Hope Dickson Leach, Tom Harper and Michael Pearce). He has gone on to direct multiple episodes of several television drama series and in 2017 he was named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist. On the feature film front, Baff has been incubated on the Berlinale Talents and Guiding Lights programmes.
