Rose Katché was born and raised in Paris, where she lived between film sets with her actress mother and the concerts of her touring father. She studied literature, theatre and cinema at Nanterre University and took acting classes at Blanche Salant. Through acting she developed a respect and empathy for the actor as well as connecting more deeply with her own body and emotions. Rose directed her short film ‘Le temps nous révèle tout’ which earned her acceptance to the prestigious Film Production Program at Concordia University in Montreal. It was during documentary studies that Rose first had the idea to examine her own family through the medium of film. There too she found her desire to write and direct. After graduating Rose found work as a script supervisor. She started as an assistant on the Paris-filmed ‘Valerian’ directed by Luc Besson. She moved from Paris to Vancouver, where she became a script supervisor member of IATSE 891. She quickly found success and after a string of high profile work on film, TV, and commercials, she was offered a full time position on ABC’s ‘A Million Little Things’. While working on ‘A Million Little Things’ Rose was able to use her position to spend time in LA with the editors and writers, with whom she became very close. Importantly, it was an education in shaping the story from the very beginning to the final mix. Throughout her time on set, Rose has written and directed her own work, all of which is built around the theme of family. She is in post production of her most recent narrative short titled ‘The Deliberate Death of My Father’ which depicts a traumatic event on the night she graduated Concordia. Rose is currently developing her first non-fiction feature film.
