Gary Freedman is a writer and director based in London. He began his career as part of a creative collective that wrote, directed, and produced art and content across various media spaces. In 2010, he began to focus on his own film work and crafting his directorial voice, becoming known for emotionally rich stories that capture the hero’s journey. Whether they be dramatic or at the opposite spectrum, comedic, Gary always focuses on the characters and their narrative arc. With JACK, Gary’s work continues to evolve. Although JACK’s story makes us question the nature and purpose of war, at its heart, it is a story of friendship and the loving bond that is shaped despite hardship and challenge. The use of in-camera puppetry creates a new benchmark of innovative and engaging storytelling.
