BIOGRAPHIE

After graduating NYU with a degree in film production, Jayil has worked as a director and editor of commercials, music videos, and short films in both the US and South Korea. His directorial work such as The Housewife (2014) starring Ye Ji-Won has screened in many prominent film festivals including the Busan International Film Festival and Jeonju International Film Festival. His short film Pepper (2018) was shortlisted by the Lexus Short Films competition and won the Grand Jury Award for Best Short Film at the Richmond International Film Festival. In 2019, Jayil was a recipient of the Independent Film Production Grant by the Korean Film Council. His screenplay Georgia (2020) was awarded the Merit of Excellence by the Shin Young Kyun Arts & Culture Foundation and received a production grant from the 18th annual Film Gate competition in South Korea.
