Rafael Thomaseto gained experience in production with commercials for brands such as Chanel and Samsung, as well as music videos for artists such as Lady Gaga, Future and Role Model. During a summer workshop in Film Finance at the London School of Economics, he was hired at UK based sales agent Celsius Entertainment and became known for his work in development, acquisitions and sales for independent films. Eventually, Thomaseto co-founded Driven Equation, a creative multimedia company based in between Los Angeles and São Paulo. Earlier this year, Thomaseto had his directorial debut with Próprio, a Brazilian coming of age short film shot in his hometown that tackles queer sexuality and sexual trauma in Brazil. As Próprio prepares to make the festival circuit around the globe, Thomaseto is in the developmental phase for his first full-length feature film A Spring Doesn’t Make a Summer, a gay romance set in Beirut, Lebanon during Spring of 2002.
