Tarek El Sherbeny is an Award-winning Filmmaker. He attained his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from The German University in Cairo, then he decided to pursue his passion for cinema. He self-studied the principles of filmmaking and is currently working as an independent producer, writer and director. His work depicts some of societal issues that Egypt is facing nowadays whether it is related to religious hypocrisy, sexual obsession, or family conflicts. His debut short film "He's Dead Now" screened at the renowned 'Film at Lincoln Center' and 'Brooklyn Academy of Music' as part of the 30th and 31st New York African Film Festival respectively. The film went on to be selected at 30 International Film Festivals, winning 5 Awards. He is the recipient of the Golden Tower Award from Cairo Int'l Short Film Festival. Tarek was the only Egyptian director selected to participate at Berlinale Talents Campus in Durban for class 2023. In 2024, He founded his production company BODY OF WORK FILMS that was behind his sophomore short film "Rotten Blood”.
