Tarek Shayne Tabet is a Berlin based film maker. He graduated from the Royal Concervatoire of Scotland in 2014, specializing in Cinematography. He was awarded the Royal Televison Society award for his camera work on the short film Our Father. Alongside cinematography, he has been working as a lighting technician on high profile shows such as Captain America: Civil War and Sense8. He has worked his way up the ladder and has been at the head of the lighting department on a number of films and television series. Since 2016, he has changed his attention from cinematography to directing. He first short film, Disconnected, was screened at numerous festivals throughout 2018. His cinematic photo series of the same name was exhibited at various photography festivals in Germany, including the Wiesbadener Fototage. He strongly believes that his background in cinematography and photography informs his directing style, which aims to be visually immersive. Tarek is fascinated by cybertechnology and the sociological changes it provokes. Virtual Reality in particular, is a field he finds most interesting. It represents humanity’s ultimate will to defy reality.
