Polina Osen is an award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker whose storytelling sensibility is steeped in Werner Herzog’s concept of the “ecstatic truth.” She aims to transport viewers beyond actuality in familiar contexts in order to reveal deep truths about the contemporary human experience and the stories we’ve told ourselves along the way. She is very interested in making films that open up new ways of considering the past and allow us to feel our way toward a greater emotional understanding of one another and of the Earth. Prior to her career as a filmmaker, Polina worked as a professional photojournalist and was a member of the main roster at Redux Pictures in New York. Her clients included The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, ESPN The Magazine, NPR.org, VICE, and many others. She is a graduate of Columbia University and is currently pursuing her MFA in Film & TV Production at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She is the recipient of the George Lucas Family Foundation Endowed Award for Film & TV Production.
