Emil Benjamin is a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor based out of New York City. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he recently received his MFA in Film from Columbia University, where he also taught undergraduate screenwriting. His short films "White People" and "We Can Do It" have screened and earned prizes at over a dozen festivals around the world and his narrative feature, "It Would Have Been Enough," is currently Reader Recommended on The Black List. Emil is the founder of Irrelevant Media, an international production company whose films have screened at Cannes, Toronto, and Venice—the latter in which they were awarded the Orizzonti Award for Best Short in 2019 and 2020 with Saim Sadiq’s "Darling" and Mariana Saffon’s "Entre Tu y Milagros."
