BIOGRAPHIE

Maria attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Faculty of San Carlos (Valencia, Spain), and has produced and directed several short animation movies. Among them is With What Shall I Wash? (2003, 35mm), which has won more than fifteen national and international awards including: 1st Prize Teddy Bear award for Best Short Film at the 54th BERLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL; 1st Prize for Best Short Film at ANIMADRID 2004;. This short film also appeared in the official section of major international festivals such as SUNDANCE 2005 and ANNENCY 2004. Her second short film Exlibris (2009, 35mm), which won several awards, was nominated as the best animated short in the 25th GOYA AWARDS (Spanish Academy of Cinema Awards). Her last animated short film Where Were You? (2020) has participated in many international film festivals and won the Diversity WIA Award at the Spark International Film Festival (Vancouver, Canada) which is an Academy Qualifying Festival. She is currently working on her first animated feature film titled “Rock Bottom”.
