BIOGRAPHIE

A member of the Mexican Film Academy, Selma has pursued a career as a director and screenwriter. With her short film “Manchester Acatitla” she won the 19th National Project Competition of IMCINE (the Mexican National Film Institute) and received her first nomination for an ARIEL (the Mexican “Oscar”) for Best Short Film. At the beginning of 2023, she premiered her second short film “Sweatshop Girl”, starring Oscar-nominated actress Yalitza Aparicio at the Sundance Film Festival and received a second Ariel nomination for Best Short Film. She is currently in post production on her third short film “Yume” which stars award winning actress Mayra Batalla and features an original song by Cyndi Lauper and mexican popstar Paulina Rubio.
