BIOGRAPHIE

Hongbo Cai (2000, China) is a concert pianist, writer, and filmmaker. He recently made his Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall in March. In 2022, he started his American concert tour in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Utah. In 2021, He finished a concert tour around his native country in venues in Shanghai, Xiamen, Zhengzhou, Hefei, Fuzhou, and Putian. He won the Victory Award at the 2022 Carles and Sofia Piano Competition and was granted album release by KNS Classical, other competition prizes include the First Prize in the 22nd Valesia Musica Juniores International Competition, the Gold Award in the 3rd WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition, the First Prize Winner in The 4th International Moscow Music Competition, and the Second Place in the 15th Aloha International Piano Competition, etc. He has collaborated with famous orchestras such as the Shanghai Opera House, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Fujian Symphony Orchestra, and Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra. He is the Guest Artist to perform in the Closing Ceremony of the First National Youth Games of China in Fuzhou. He will be invited again to collaborate with Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra in the 2023-24 season as a guest pianist. His debut short film <A Chamber Where A Dreamer Slumbers> won the Best Experimental Film Prize in New York International Film Awards, and was included in the selection for the 2021 Toronto Independent Film Festival and 2022 Kiez Berlin Film Festival. His debut film (Dawn & Dusk) as a producer was screened at Harvard Film Archive in 2021. His writings on film have been published in well-known film media such as DeepFocus and ToroFilm. He has been invited to the 76th Cannes Film Festival as a film critic.
