José Lomas Hervert was born in San Luis Potosí and raised in Arizona and Texas. Holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from The University of Texas. 2012 writes and produces his first feature film POTOSÍ- won best first mexican feature at Guanajuato International Film Festival 2013. 2014 Potosí was nominated for 3 ARIELES (Mexican Academy Awards) including best actress. In 2015 receives a grant to produce a short documentary GERARDO for PBS about the LGBT community in El Paso, Texas. In 2016 wins the IMCINE regional short grant. His short film Los Ausentes (The Absents) wins an Honorable Mention at Morelia International Film Festival 2017 and was official selection at Berlinale Generation Kplus 2019. Los Ausentes won best mexican short at Monterrey International Film Festival 2018. Los Ausentes won best screenplay at Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival, México City 2018. Los Ausentes was nominated for Diosas de Plata (press awards) 2018. In 2020 wins the IMCINE regional short grant with his short film La Lengua y El Olvido (The Void Between Us).
