Rory Fleck Byrne was born in England to Irish parents and moved home to Ireland at the age of nine. Having trained as an actor at RADA in London from the age of eighteen to twenty-one he began his acting career on stage in London’s West End working with some of the industries most influential directors; Sir Trevor Nunn and Thea Sharrock, and playing lead roles in Enda Walsh's Disco Pigs at The Young Vic theatre and Noel Coward's The Vortex at The Gate theatre, Dublin. He then moved into film and television and has been building a name for himself in that sphere ever since playing lead roles for directors such as Martin Campbell (007 Casino Royale, Golden Eye, The Mask of Zorro) on The Foreigner alongside Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, Barnaby Thompson on Pixie alongside Olivia Cooke, Colm Meaney and Alec Baldwin. He has worked in Independent cinema also, on films such as Vita and Virginia alongside Isabella Rossellini, Gemma Arterton and Elizabeth Debicki and most recently for Andrew Legge in independent film L.O.L.A whilst also appearing in varying roles on Television including series regular Daniel Marney in HULU’s Harlots. Rory has just completed filming on the television adaptation of Adam Kay’s memoirs of the NHS, This Is Going To Hurt for BBC alongside Ben Whishaw and Harriet Walter. Rory began writing and producing work, with his then creative partner, in 2015 where he co-wrote, produced, acted and composed the score. These projects, Inbox and Bodies both played at International Festivals including Palm Springs, Galway Film Fleadh and Dublin International. Rory has always been interested in the experience and expression of gender and the mix of masculine and feminine we all carry despite race, sex, sexuality or gender identity. Alongside acting, he has turned to writing and directing his own projects to explore this theme in more depth. DASH is Rory’s directorial debut.
