Leyla is a writer, director, actor of Turkish, French and Swedish descent. She completed her early education in Switzerland before moving to New York to study acting at American Academy of Dramatic Arts. A lover of stories from childhood, her interests shifted from theatre to film. She felt it would give her more freedom to paint the world she envisioned and went onto a get a bachelors in Film and Television. In order to get a better understanding of the industry, she interned at WME Agency and in Turkish production houses in both production and directing departments. Upon graduation, she was cast in a principal role that took her back to Turkey. Acting became her main focus for a while, however, once she realized what she wanted most of all was to bring her own stories to life, she took a step back, to take a step forward on a new path. “Koza” is her directorial debut.
