BIOGRAPHIE

Eva Maria Sommersberg was born in Bonn in 1986 and studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. After graduating in 2009, she worked as a freelancer, including at the Volksbühne Berlin, the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater Dortmund and the Burgtheater in Vienna. From 2011 to 2015 she was part of the ensemble of the Staatstheater Kassel and played, among others, Irina in Chekhov's “Three Sisters” as well as the title roles in Schiller's “Jungfrau von Orleans” and Kleist's “Penthesilea”. In 2013 she made a guest appearance at the Salzburg Festival as Helena in “Midsummer Night's Dream” and received the young talent award from the Kassel Funding Society. Since 2015 she has been living and working freelance in Berlin, has made several guest appearances in Athens at the National Theater and the Onassis Cultural Foundation and writes for theater and film. In 2019 her feminist play "One morning very early the enemy lay in my bed" won the audience award at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms. In 2020 she co-founded "Drei Schwestern Produktionen", a production company for film, theatre and media together with Agnes Mann and Alina Rank. "Vodka Variations" is her first work as a film director and producer.
