With the appearance of contemporary technology, Mohsen got to have his first computer at the age of fourteen and his first video (mini VHS) camera at fifteen. These two much changed the story for him, as he began discovering the abilities of both devices on his own. Learning video editing programs and how to captures the videos he shot on his camera opened up new doors towards his future. He wrote his first script in Kurdish at the age of fifteen. Meanwhile, he continued practicing writing in Farsi, studying art history, reading Persian literature, and learning English as his third language in those years. He enrolled in the Tehran University of Art after attending the national Concours and scoring 13th among more than thousands of students. Enrolling in the MFA film production at NYU Tisch in 2012 after graduation from BA in Cinema, he had to drop out after the first semester due to his father’s passing in a car crash. He later enrolled in Prague Film School’s Filmmaking Diploma with the support of Ralph NJ Foundation based in New York. After receiving Special Recognition from Berlinale 70th for his co-produced short film “The Kites” in early 2020, Mohsen is producing and co-writing his first feature film in Kurdish, The Storks, which has made it into the Cannes Film Residency in late 2020.
