BIOGRAPHIE

I lived most of my life in Chennai, now living in the UK. Apart from writing/directing my own films, I have written about cinema, have published books on film studies by various renowned scholars in the field, and have worked as a jury member in film festivals. As a self-taught filmmaker, I would like to explore filmmaking on stories and experiences that are new to me. Personally, I believe the creator should try to be as objective as possible in order to create new characters that we meet in our journey. Shortly put, my films are mine but they are not about me. I'm directing a trilogy on divorce, a subject that is still largely taboo even in parallel cinema in India. Good or bad, small or big, I'm here to make films.
