Lina Westphal was born in 1995 in Aachen, where she grew up and obtained her university entrance qualification in 2015. After graduating from high school, she spent a year traveling and working across New Zealand. Thrilled by the impressions of her trip, she decided to work for the German Lufthansa as a flight attendant and travel the world right after her return in 2016. Despite the wonderful experiences in all parts of this world, she wanted to live out her life more creatively and started studying communication design at the FH Aachen in 2018 alongside flying. She put her focus in film and directing by Prof. Knezy-Bohm. She finished her own first big project "Butcherette" with singer and producer Lucy Dye in May 2020. With "Butcherette" she won as the "best female student director" at the Cannes Short Awards in 2021.
