Artist. Businessman. Visionary. Tony is none of these things. Tony Xie is a comedy filmmaker from the contemptuously sprawling suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Since escaping, he now makes films out of his contemptuously small apartment in Brooklyn. Though he studied film theory at the University of Pennsylvania, Tony owes his film network to the “Film Gigs” section on Craigslist. His stories focus on the simultaneous tragedy and comedy of the Asian American experience - expanding empathy through humor. His short films have been featured on the front pages of Funny or Die, and his shortest film premiered at the 2017 Sundance Youtube Six Second Film Competition. His commercial directorial work includes clients such as Samsung, Toyota, Esquire, and Men’s Health magazine.
