BIOGRAPHIE

Marie Valade is a Quebec animation filmmaker and co-director of Festival Stop Motion Montréal. In 2010 she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film Animation at Concordia University and participated in the NFB's Hothouse apprenticeship program. Since then, she has collaborated on short and feature films and cultural mediation projects. Fascinated by traditional frame by frame animation techniques including pixillation, object and puppet animation and 2D animation, she likes to play with the boundaries between narrative storytelling and experimental creation. Boobs (Lolos, 2021) is her most recent project. Animated on paper with the rotoscoping technique, this short film explores the iconography of breasts. French Bio: Marie Valade est une cinéaste d’animation québécoise et codirectrice du Festival Stop Motion Montréal. En 2010 elle complète un baccalauréat en cinéma d’animation de l’Université Concordia et participe au programme de création Hothouse de l’ONF. Elle collabore depuis à des projets de courts et longs métrages et de médiation culturelle. Fascinée par les techniques d’animation traditionnelle image par image incluant la pixillation, l’animation d’objets et de marionnettes et l’animation 2D, elle aime jouer avec les limites entre le monde du récit narratif et celui de la création expérimentale. Lolos (2021) est son plus récent projet. Réalisé en rotoscopie sur papier, ce court métrage explore l'iconographie des seins.
