BIOGRAPHIE

Frances James (b. 1994, South Africa) grew up in Hong Kong and in 2018 earned a BFA from Academy Minerva in the Netherlands. Beginning as a painter and photographer, James moved into filmmaking and her first short film 'Hakka' was featured on the slow cinema platform Tao Films and was screened across Europe in 2018. Her second short, 'Ballads of a Working Man', was nominated for the TENT Academy award in Rotterdam. James has since returned to Hong Kong where she continues to make films.
