Born in Qinghai China in 1995, Shawn S.X. Zou is a writer-director who would describe himself as a humble servant to his stories. Before his MA in filmmaking at London Film School, he enrolled at Hong Kong Baptist University with a full admission scholarship and graduated in First Honours in BA Film and Visual Arts. He naturally inclines to stories that deal with family, or the lack of it. He believes the power of cinema lies in its ability to heal. He hopes changes should only happen organically from within oneself by a moving story. Many of his inspirations come from Yasujiro Ozu, Hirokazu Koreeda and Abbas Kiarostami. He aspires to continue learning the art of filmmaking till he is 80, maybe 81, but no more than 85.
