BIOGRAPHIE

Guilherme Xavier Ribeiro, 31, diretor, screenwriter and founder of Oeste Cinema. From Assis-SP, studied Social Communication at the USP’s Communication and Arts School. Was a music journalist reporter at MTV Brasil, where produced interviews for ‘MTV1’, ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ and ‘Acesso MTV’, and directed his first feature film, the ‘Sabotage Nós’ (2013) documentary. Available for streaming, the documentary was already seen by at least a million people after it release at Espaço Itaú de Cinema, in 2013, São Paulo. In 2014, directed his second documentary, a short feature ‘Sobre Coragem’ (‘A White Man in a Land of Courage’), an immersion in life stories and psychological conflicts from the largest homeless living occupation of Latin America, the Vila Nova Palestina, at the extreme south of São Paulo City. The documentary released in 2015 was displayed throughout all the country state capitals by the 11a Film and Human Rights Exhibition, it was officially selected to the ‘Curta Cinema’ from Rio de Janeiro International Short-Feature Exhibition and won the ‘Best Direction’ award at the Cinema Festival of Três Passos-RS. In 2019, directed the documentary show ‘Bulls and Human Animals’, divided in 4 episodes, in completion. The show seeks a humanized view about the rodeo universe and follows the riders life which weekly faces death at the Brazil’s countryside arenas. On the same year, got a partnership with the local universities, creating the Polo Audiovisual do Velho Oeste, which he is the current coordinator. In 2021, founded an audiovisual cooperative, ‘Cooperativa Audiovisual do Velho Oeste’ and directed the short ‘Ainda Restarão Robôs Nas Ruas Do Interior Profundo' (Through The Deep West), that won 'Best Film' award at 33nd São Paulo International Short Film Festival, where it had his premiere. Guilherme Xavier Ribeiro, 31 anos. Diretor, produtor e roteirista pela Oeste Cinema, produtora baseada em Assis - SP. Cursou Comunicação Social na Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP de 2009 a 2013. Foi repórter e roteirista da MTV Brasil de 2010 a 2013. Diretor do longa-metragem ‘Sabotage Nós’ (2013), sobre o rapper Sabotage, que acumula mais de 1 milhão de visualizações em streaming. Dirigiu o curta-metragem ‘Sobre Coragem!’, exibido em todas as capitais do país pela 10a Mostra de Cinema e Direitos Humanos no Mundo, selecionado para o Festival Internacional de Curta-Metragem do Rio de Janeiro ‘Curta-Cinema’, e vencedor de Melhor Direção no Festival de Cinema de Três Passos. Fundou em 2017 a produtora Oeste Cinema, empresa de fomento ao audiovisual na região Oeste Paulista, por onde foi vencedor por duas vezes do Prêmio Profissionais do Ano da Rede Globo e idealizou o projeto Polo Audiovisual do Velho Oeste, fruto de parceria entre a Fundação Educacional do Município de Assis - FEMA e a Cooperativa Audiovisual do Velho Oeste, da qual é presidente. Produziu em 2019 a primeira edição da mostra 'Curta Velho Oeste', que exibiu filmes produzidos nos interiores do Brasil. Em 2021, codirigiu o curta-metragem 'Sou Mulher e Não Serei Outra Coisa'. Em 2022, dirigiu o curta 'Ainda Restarão Robôs Nas Ruas do Interior Profundo, vencedor do prêmio de Melhor Filme - Prêmio Canal Brasil de Curtas no 33º Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens de São Paulo - Curta Kinoforum. É diretor e produtor da minissérie documental 'Touros', em finalização.
