BIOGRAPHIE

Based in Bergen, Norway, Kristin Heien is working as a screenwriter and director, mainly of documentaries. Denouement is her first fictional film. Director´s Statement This story is inspired by my grandmother. She suffered from dementia, but she never lost her sense of humor. In telling this story, I wanted to acknowledge the loss, the pain, and the fear of the demented person, while at the same time exploring the core that remains. When everything fades, who is she? And how does she cope with the experience of her world falling apart? In shooting this film, we wanted to play on our strengths as documentary filmmakers. We approached the scenes with a small crew, using long shots and inviting the actors to improvise and explore the characters on set. It was a privilege to work with such a wonderful cast, and to experience their sense of presence and closeness to the characters.
